Dr. David Adam, Principal
Dr. Adam came back to LHS as the principal after an extensive educational leadership career within Lawrence Township. He was hired as an Assistant Principal at LHS in 2007 and served in that role for 3 years. During that tenure, the 9th grade, 10th grade, and career academies were created, developed, and implemented. In 2010 Dr. Adam moved to Lawrence Intermediate School as an Assistant Principal for one year before being appointed as the principal in 2011, a position he held through 2015. While the principal of LIS, Dr. Adam led a literacy initiative for grade levels 4-6 and is very proud of the leadership opportunities that were developed for all of the students. He has also presented at a number of conferences and workshops related to the district’s 1:1 technology initiative that has finally made its way to 12th grade.
Before coming to Lawrence Township Public Schools, he worked as a high school social studies teacher at Hamilton High School West and at Northern Burlington County Regional High School, where he also coached varsity football, girls’ track, and girls’ lacrosse. In addition to coaching, Dr. Adam also served as a club advisor, mentoring program volunteer, senior trip chaperone, and winter season site-supervisor.
Dr. Adam grew up in nearby Hamilton Township and graduated from Steinert High School. From there, he attended the University of North Carolina – Wilmington for undergraduate studies, where he earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in History and Secondary Teaching Certification in Social Studies. Dr. Adam went directly to graduate school at East Carolina University and earned his Masters of Arts degree in Education with a concentration in American History. After returning to New Jersey and teaching high school, Dr. Adam eventually went back to school to earn his Educational Leadership certification and training from the University of Pennsylvania and recently completed his doctorate in Educational Leadership from Rider University.
The philosophy of “personalizing the educational experience for all students” permeates throughout Lawrence High School and the entire school community. Dr. Adam truly believes that each student who walks the halls of LHS has an opportunity to collaborate, design, and live-out the high school experience that they envision for themselves while connecting to the Lawrence community and fully prepare for their life after LHS.
